iPad 11 Coming in 2025? What We Know About Apple’s Budget iPad Refresh

Apple is gearing up to refresh its affordable iPad, which hasn’t received an update since 2022. As the entry-level model in the iPad lineup, it typically doesn’t get much attention. However, we’ve started hearing some exciting details about the iPad 11 Coming in 2025. The release is expected in spring 2025, likely around April.

Design: What’s Staying the Same?

Apple revamped the iPad’s design in 2022, introducing a 10.9-inch screen and a Touch ID power button. Because of that, major design changes are unlikely this time.

Expect the same 10.9-inch display and iPad Air-inspired look. However, Apple could offer new colors. The iPad currently comes in silver, yellow, pink, and blue, so we may see some additional color options. It will continue to feature a USB-C port, making it compatible with the USB-C Apple Pencil, which seems here to stay.

A-Series Chip: What’s Powering the iPad?

We don’t know yet which chip Apple will choose for the iPad 11. Reports suggest the A17 Pro chip, used in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPad Mini 7, could power the device. This chip would support Apple Intelligence features.

However, a different rumor suggests that the iPad 11 may use the A16 chip instead. If that’s the case, Apple Intelligence features won’t be available, since the A16 can’t support them.

If the iPad 11 uses the A17 Pro, it might come with 8GB of RAM. This would be the minimum amount needed for Apple Intelligence. If Apple chooses the A16, the iPad will likely need less RAM to run smoothly.

Apple’s Custom 5G Modem: Fast Connectivity

Apple’s custom 5G modem will likely debut in the iPad 11. This modem will also appear in the iPhone SE and iPhone 17 Air in 2025.

The modem will support sub-6GHz 5G, offering download speeds up to 4Gbps. While slower than Qualcomm’s modems, it will still deliver solid performance. The modem won’t support mmWave 5G, the faster 5G technology, which is available only in specific areas.

Other Updates: Wi-Fi 6E and More

Apple has been rolling out Wi-Fi 6E across many of its devices, and the iPad 11 will likely follow suit. The current model supports Wi-Fi 6 but doesn’t work with the faster 6GHz band available with Wi-Fi 6E routers. Upgrading to Wi-Fi 6E would improve the iPad’s connectivity for users with compatible networks.

Pricing: Will the Price Stay the Same?

There haven’t been any rumors about a price increase for the iPad 11, so we expect the starting price to remain $349 for the 64GB model.

In the past, Apple has increased the storage for some devices. The iPad 11 could come with 128GB of storage, but there’s no confirmation of this change yet. Currently, the iPad comes in 64GB and 256GB configurations.

Expected Release: When Can You Get It?

The iPad 11 is expected to launch in spring 2025, likely in March or April. Apple is also working on a new Magic Keyboard for the iPad 11 and/or the iPad Air, which should release by mid-2025. This accessory will add more functionality to the devices, making them even more appealing.

Should You Wait or Buy Now?

If you’re planning to buy a budget iPad, waiting for the iPad 11 might be a better choice. The major processor updates will make the new model more efficient and future-proof. The current version has been around for two years, and its chip is even older. Waiting for the new version will likely get you the best value for your money.

However, if you need a tablet now and don’t care about the latest features, the current iPad is still a solid option for basic tasks.
